Super Heroes - Menswear Collection

JOOP! Menswear Collection Autumn/Winter 2010/2011

Inspiration
Power, determination and the constant switch between reality and imagination characterise the male superhero. He is the role model of a collection that gathers its energy from the juxtaposition of various style elements that are both harmoniously and courageously combined. The sharp-edged design of modern architectures merges with the organic shapes and surfaces of unadulterated naturalness. This considered connection of rusticity, modern elegance, sex appeal and glamour gives birth to new images that are surprising yet harmonious in their entirety.

Silhouettes and styles
Body-hugging, but never narrow, silhouettes define a new sense of masculinity. Various lengths and widths are excitingly combined. Modernity is paired with traditionally authentic styles to create calculated breaks. High waists, narrow shoulders, narrower buttoning and a juxtaposition of narrow and wide lapels define a decisive silhouette that characterises the whole collection. The formal and handcrafted precision of classic three-button suits with slim, cropped trousers contrasts with authentic coats, caban jackets and bomber jackets that constantly seek a connection to uniform elements. The juxtaposition of interpretations of Norwegian sweaters, double-breasted cardigans, heavy cable knits and fine cashmere once again displays the combination of rusticity and refinement.

Fabrics
The collection is based on authentic, warm fabrics that above all make the most of the visual and haptic qualities of the wool. They are teamed up with voluminous cottons, corduroy or matt shape-memory nylons. Harmony and tonality are repeatedly punctuated with classic shapes in technical fabrics and down themes from coated wool. Traditional product designs such as dog’s tooth, pinstripes, graphic and tone-on-tone checks or flannel variants always maintain their modernity when combined with the model.

Colours
Black and shades of grey from slate anthracite to wool white form a calm background for modifications of camel, deep brown or cloth blue. Targeted accents such as cobalt blue, burnt red, masculine violet or mineral green penetrate and structure this tonality with graphic, but fine breaks.

JOOP! Menswear Casual Autumn/Winter 2010/2011

Inspiration
Self-confident masculinity, modernity and sex appeal are reflected in the elementary power of untouched nature and the rapid heartbeat of the metropolises. The idea of the collection features a reserved patina throughout and develops its key statement from the simultaneous existence of different, authentic quotations. These are repeatedly compiled to form considered breaks with a contemporary reinterpretation that enables us to re-experience the lifestyle and materiality of decades past.

Silhouettes and styles
Deconstructed finishes and subtle washes that abstain from superficial used effects are repeated throughout the entire collection structure. Outdoor garments brave the winter season with masculine sexiness and show authenticity that is based on parkas, two-in-one styles, military-inspired caban jackets and trench coats, bomber jackets or technical downs. The matching knitwear offsets this overall picture with modern Norwegian sweaters, chunky outdoor knits, knitted sweaters in vintage colours, various checks or jacquards. Deconstructed jackets with full lapels and high waists are presented with various button positions and pocket designs. Chinos and five-pocket designs in authentic washes featuring traditional details show expressive silhouettes that clearly display slim or ample legs.

Fabrics
The principle of uncompromising genuineness is what characterises this collection’s fabrics. They present washed, often cloth-like woollen fabrics that are highly textured, as well as Shetlands or double faces. Classic dog’s tooth or fishbone designs give the surfaces a certain rhythm. They alternate with tone-on-tone or graphic fabric patterns and checks in various sizes of repeat patterns. Highly textured cottons give trousers and jackets a full and sensuous haptic that has hints of technical modernity thanks to the matt shine of heavy and light nylons.

Colours
The use of colour is not exclusively reserved for the garments, but the decisive counterbalancing and mixing of accents is a basic component of the collection. The calm of deep tones and neutral shades of grey is aggresively punctuated by the vibrancy of strong tones: Pompeii red, berry pink, rust or violet. These are contrasted by the cool of cobalt and smoky blue.

JOOP! Womenswear Collection Autumn/Winter 2010/2011

Inspiration
The JOOP! woman is a modern heroine. She is at once feminine, extravagant and strong. Her look combines influences from various styles and eras to form an exciting and harmonious overall image. Calculated breaks in colours and patterns, lines and silhouettes provide a contemporary touch. The mix of sexiness, glamour and sculptural elegance generates a fascinating atmosphere that is somewhere between nostalgia, futurism and the here and now.

Silhouettes and styles
The femininity of blouses and dresses with tucks and flounces is countered by club jackets, new boyfriend styles and slim-fit trousers – an attractive blend of sex appeal and severity. Trench coat interpretations and jackets are adorned with buttons, buckles and visibly quilted zips of opulent gold or matt gun metal. Extravagant, statuesque evening dresses with a slightly higher waist and flowing silhouettes are reminiscent of the elegance of the 1930s. Opulent sleeve designs, accordion pleats on button panels and collar borders, and crossover belts or zigzag godets support this feminine statement.

Fabrics
Traditional fabrics with unconventional colour schemes and finishes present attractive contrasts between the familiar and the unfamiliar. Mohair plaids and large repeat checks feature vibrant and harmonious colours. The basic fabrics are cavalry twills, worsteds, light flannels and classically interpreted patterns. The cosy, casual character of felted wool and denim-look woollen gabardines is contrasted by the seductive glamour of shimmering silk velvets and lamés. Shining sequins, flowing velvets, woollen satins, silk georgettes and holographic jacquards offset the glamorous touch of dinner jackets, pencil skirts, voluminous coats or extravagant cocktail and evening dresses.

Colours
A calm background of neutral shades is repeated throughout the collection. The various colours range from rich black to midnight and charcoal to light marble. In the first batch, strong shades of red and Delft blue break away from the traditional charm of classic designs. In the second batch, deep green and shades of blue such as pine or teal are derived from the basic colours, giving the garments a modern twist. In the third batch, warm subdued grey and soft shades of brown feature as light and medium neutrals, whilst nobility and glamour are presented by bright colours such as magenta, gold and light, subtle powder shades.
